📚 2025 Reading #2

I really enjoyed this. I love the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit but really don’t know much about the rest of Tolkien’s legendarium.

The book is a bit odd, being a mix of stories and “history”, with scholarly footnotes thrown in. It’s a strange read because you never sink into the fiction. It’s not a novel. It almost reads like a long blog post.

But I really liked learning more about Númenor. It adds some more colour to the stories of Aragorn, Gondor and Sauron.
